Volunteers are the driving force behind YDS and are vitally important to the ongoing growth and development of the organisation. We periodically recruit volunteers interested in joining our Executive team and our Marketing, Publications, Events, and Podcast portfolios.

Each position plays a key role in shaping YDS’ work, from crafting compelling content to organising engaging events and building partnerships. External Engagement Portfolio:

​

The External Engagement Portfolio focuses on building and strengthening YDS' relationships with external stakeholders, partners, and the wider community. This portfolio offers two dynamic roles:​

​

• Sponsorship Officer
  Drive YDS’ sponsorship strategy by identifying, securing, and managing partnerships with businesses and organisations. Under the guidance of the Vice President (External), the Sponsorship Officer develops sponsorship proposals and fosters strong relationships with sponsors to support YDS’ initiatives.

• Outreach Officer
  Expand YDS’ reach by engaging with external stakeholders, including university societies and youth organisations. The Outreach Officer fosters connections and promotes YDS’ events and initiatives to a broader audience, amplifying the organisation's impact.

Events Portfolio:​​​

 

The Events Portfolio is at the heart of YDS, bringing together members and the broader international affairs community through engaging and impactful events. We have two exciting roles available:

• Events Officer
  Events Officers collaborate with the Events Director and Coordinator to develop and organise events for YDS members and the wider international affairs community. This role supports event coordination and works closely with the team to ensure the success of each event.

Marketing Portfolio:

The Marketing Portfolio plays a critical role in shaping YDS' public image and communicating its initiatives to a broader audience. We currently have an opening for:

• Marketing Officer
  Marketing Officers work closely with the Marketing Director to create compelling content for YDS' social media and communication channels. This role is central to building YDS’ brand, engaging with the community, and enhancing the organisation’s visibility. Marketing Officers gain valuable experience in content creation, public relations, and brand management, with skills that are highly transferable to future career opportunities.

Publications Portfolio:

​

The Publications Portfolio is the backbone of YDS, driving our editorial vision and ensuring the high-quality production of articles that contribute to global discourse. We currently have multiple openings within this portfolio:

• Editor
  Editors are essential to our publications, responsible for refining articles by making substantive and line edits. They maintain close communication with authors and oversee the editing process for content submitted by Regional Correspondents and general contributors. Editors play a critical role in ensuring clarity and quality across all written pieces.

• Field Correspondent (Global Economics)
  Field Correspondents are specialised writers in key global issues such as cyber technology, international law, global health, climate change, gender equality, global economics, and military & security. They produce regular content related to their chosen area of expertise. We are particularly looking for a Field Correspondent specialising in Global Economics and Gender Equality to expand our coverage in this area.

• Regional Correspondent (MENA and Australia & the Pacific)
  Regional Correspondents specialise in one of YDS’ nine global regions: Europe, Latin America, Middle East & North Africa, and North America are open for this recruitment round. They are responsible for producing weekly regional summaries and in-depth monthly articles, keeping YDS members informed on the latest political, social, and cultural developments within their designated region. Regional correspondents also play a key role in creating special edition features for YDS.

• Contributing Writer
  Contributing Writers collaborate with Senior Editors to produce monthly articles. This is an exciting opportunity to develop writing and analytical skills while covering a broad range of topics, from gender equality to international security, trade, peace, and more. Writers are encouraged to write about topics they are passionate about and interested in exploring further.
