The Young Diplomats Society (YDS) is opening applications for our 2026 Executive Team — a dynamic group of students and young professionals who drive our mission to make global issues accessible to the next generation.

As part of the YDS Executive, you’ll help shape our direction, strengthen our community, and lead initiatives that empower young people to engage with the world around them. Whether your strengths lie in organisation, finance, communication, or creativity, there’s a role for you.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

Secretary: 

The Secretary is a key member of the YDS Executive Team. The Secretary is responsible for the management of the administrative and logistical aspects of the Young Diplomats Society. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and meticulous individual, capable of decisive and assertive action where required. You are someone who can work across a range of areas whilst collaborating with like-minded peers. You have a strong eye for details, sound organisational skills, and a commitment to producing work of a high quality and accuracy.

Treasurer: 

The Treasurer is a key member in the YDS Executive, responsible for overseeing the financial health and sustainability of the organisation. The Treasurer manages all aspects of financial planning, reporting, and control, and contributes to the strategic direction of the organisation. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of financial principles and a commitment to transparency and accountability.

Vice President (Internal):

The Vice President (Internal) is a key member of the YDS Executive. As a leader of the organisation, we are looking for someone with great organisational skills, an ability to build strong work relationships, and experience delivering projects which support our organisational strategy. The Vice President (Internal) supports the President with recruitment, strategic planning, and oversight of all YDS portfolios (i.e., events, publications, marketing, podcasts).

Vice President (External): 

The Vice President (External) is a key member in the YDS Executive. We are seeking someone with great organisational skills, an existing network, an ability to build strong relationships within and external to the organisation, and has a keen eye on opportunities to grow the organisation’s outreach. The Vice President (External) supports the President with strategic planning and implementation of key outreach initiatives.

Events Director:

The Events Director is responsible for overseeing the entire Events Portfolio, ensuring that all events align with YDS’ mission and goals. This role involves strategic planning, budget management, and providing leadership and support to the Events Coordinators. The Events Director works closely with the Executive Team to ensure seamless execution and high-quality events. The Events Director is accountable for the overall strategy and execution of the Events Portfolio, providing leadership and support to the Events Coordinators and ensuring alignment with organisation’s goals.

Editor-In-Chief:

The Editor-In-Chief is a key member in the YDS Executive. We are seeking someone with great organisation and management skills, and has a keen eye for identifying growth opportunities within the portfolio. The Editor-In-Chief oversees the Publications portfolio, and is responsible for planning and publishing all YDS material, and managing the YDS Facebook Writers’ Group.

Podcast Director:

The Podcast Director is a key member in the YDS Executive and is responsible for overseeing the Podcast Portfolio. As the leader of the portfolio, the Podcast Director will drive the direction and stories ‘Global Questions’ covers. They will be supported by officers in charge of editing and research. We are looking for an experienced leader with a passion for both global affairs and media.
