Matala Kiemo is a student at Griffith University studying Business and Political Science/International Relations, majoring in Behavioural Science and Security, Conflict and Human Rights. With a strong passion for global affairs, public policy, and youth advocacy, she has developed a particular interest in political systems, including China’s governance and African political development.

Through her involvement with UN Youth Australia and Country to Canberra, Matala has gained experience in youth engagement, policy discussions, and leadership programs at both state and national levels. She has also volunteered with UNICEF Australia, the Australian Red Cross, and the Bravehearts Youth Advisory Council, where she has supported community initiatives, facilitated discussions, and contributed to youth-led consultation. Passionate about creating inclusive and supportive environments, Matala is actively involved in mentoring and student engagement programs, helping new students navigate university life and build confidence. As an Events Officer with the Young Diplomats Society, she aims to foster meaningful conversations around international affairs and create opportunities for students to connect, learn, and engage with global issues.
