About the Event

NGO Advocacy, Youth-led Movements, and LGBTIQA+ Initiatives

Join YDS for an evening focused on human rights, exploring the non-state sector and its role in strengthening international governance and accountability. We will be joined by Dr Carla Winston and Jacob Thomas, two experts with a wide and varied range of experience.

Dr Winston's research focuses on transitional justice, NGOs, and the intersections between Human Rights and business. She is currently a lecturer at the University of Melbourne, with a focus on international relations theory and norm diffusion.

Jacob Thomas has a broad range of advocacy experience, notably their role in the Commonwealth Youth Gender and Equality Network. They have also recently published a chapter on the role of youth in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG5).

We are excited to sit-down with both speakers to discuss their experiences and look forward to welcoming you all on the evening.
