Looking to transition from graduation to the workplace? Considering your options when it comes to internships or mentoring? YDS Alumni join us to answer these questions and more whilst sharing their own journeys through study and work.
Our PanellistsEmina Besirevic is a penultimate year Bachelor of Law/ Global Studies student, majoring in International Relations alongside a Diploma in French. With a passion for international humanitarian law and diplomacy, Emina was awarded the Global Scholar scholarship and studied an International Politics course at the University of Cambridge. Â She has since taken her love for advocacy and co-founded the legal startup, Curia Legal, which aims to provide students with a practical and innovative approach to the law. Emina was the Secretary for YDS from 2019-2020.
Emmett Howard is a Policy Officer currently working with the National Security team within the Department of Industry, Science, Energy, and Resources. Prior to this he worked in Strategic Policy with the Department of Defence, and on a research project with the Victorian State Government. He holds a Master of International Relations of the University of Melbourne and Bachelor of Arts in Writing from the University of Canberra. He’s a big fan of languages, speaking Spanish and Indonesian and is currently studying Mandarin (with varying success). Emmet was the former Editor-In-Chief for YDS from 2018-2019.
Charlotte Lang-Waring is a Registry Officer at the County Court of Victoria. She is also a penultimate year law graduate in the University of Melbourne’s Juris Doctor program. Charlotte has extensive Paralegal experience, has completed a legal internship with Judge Georgiou, and is currently the Barrister's Assistant to Julian Burnside AO QC. She was the former Events Director for YDS from 2019-2020, having hosted a variety of amazing speakers.
